I need a boost
Q. With all the preparations for our forthcoming wedding, I'm feeling really tired and stressed at theend of every day. What can I do to increase my energy levels?
A. Paula Werrett says: It's really important that you are eating regular, balanced meals and snacks that contain plenty of protein (meat, cheese, nuts, eggs and pulses) and fibre (fruits, vegetables and wholegrain foods) to keep your blood sugar levels stable. While it might be tempting to grab quick-fix foods on the run, like chocolate and biscuits, these will only give you a temporary boost in energy and will leave you with a sluggish feeling a couple of hours later. Sugary foods are also devoid of important nutrients like B vitamins and magnesium, which are vital for energy. Try increasing your intake of green leafy vegetables, eggs, pulses and wholegrain cereals to give yourself a boost. You might also find it useful to take a supplement of B vitamins, magnesium and vitamin C every day. |
